Lviv is the capital of the Lviv Oblast. It is a significant administrative, industrial, historical and cultural center of Ukraine which is included in the UNESCO inheritance list. Lviv is considered one of Ukraine's major tourist destinations, it the nickname the "Little Paris of Ukraine". Population of 760,026 as of January1, 2011. The Memorandum on Cooperation within MLED Project was signed on December 23, 2010, in Lviv. The city is distinguished by highly innovative approach to LED and improving city competitiveness, including one-stop-shop permit office, improved regulatory procedures, training for start-up businesses, and support of innovative business development. Lviv has a well-developed transport network. Its territory is crossed by international railway lines which are connected with many capitals of European countries. The city of Lviv is air border-crossing point - airport “Lviv”. Lviv is one of Ukrainian cities that was co-hosting the group stages for the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship. Lviv is one of the leading bank centers of the country and has about 100 plenipotentiary banks and their branches. Two trade exchanges and one stock exchange are also functioning in the city. The International Economic Forum is annually held in Lviv. It is deals with the questions of border cooperation development. |
