FCM has begun to implement new technical assistance Project “Partnership for Local Economic Development and Democratic Governance” in Ukraine

PLEDDG will result in effective democratic governance and economic development at the local level that contributes to democracy, sustainable communities and long-term social and economic growth and prosperity in Ukraine. More specifically, the project’s expected results include: i) Strengthened local governance and management practices are advancing democracy and enabling innovative, sustainable economic development at the local level; ii) Enhanced business-friendly, local government policies, partnerships and services are attracting, retaining and increasing the productivity and voice of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with a focus on women entrepreneurs and; iii) A more enabling inclusive support system is helping build sustainable economic foundations in Ukraine.

PLEDDG will be implemented from April 2015 till December 2020 by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and funded by the Government of Canada.

Partners:

  • Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing of Ukraine
  • Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine
  • Association of Ukrainian Cities (AUC)
  • Oblast State Administrations and Oblast Councils of 4 defined oblasts (Vinnytsya, Zaporizhzhya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava)
  • 16 Ukrainian cities, either directly or through partnerships
